Unique, Vintage Tea Set: Made in Japan
So when I was checking out everyone’s posts for the Hospital-i-tea blogathon I was excited to find, at The Happy Wonderer a piece that was the same as my set. I let Ellen know and she immediately commented back..SO, since she didn’t know about the history of this piece I thought I would share what I know.
This set was made in Japan in the 1930’s I believe. Intact, there is a creamer, sugar bowl, and teapot. It is called Japan Redware, and I have seen many other figures and teapots, but only one other one like this that was intact. VERY occasionally you might see single pieces.
It is a small tea set, just about right for treating yourself to tea, or tea with a friend. I couldn’t tell you what the actual value of the set was, mine is priceless for personal reasons!

oooh! I like it!
All my “fun” ones are either miniatures or Christmas ones.
My little girls always choose the traditional ones to play tea party with.
So, speaking of tea parties and ..er… broken lids what is the best glue for repairing broken pieces?

Marc uses some kind of china glue. I am not sure…I usually just sigh and turn the thing into a flower arrangement.

Deb, I have seen it for as low as 25.00 and as high as 65.00…I would think it would be a the higher end with the shakers…COuld you send me a picture of them and I will put it in the reader’s gallery on the side bar!
I have never seen t he shakers to it.
