It’s Back! Must be Fall, Y’all
Marc works limited part time at Home Depot. When he lost his job last February because of his disability we knew that his 25 year career in the jewelry industry was over. Think about it, luxury jewelers do not hire wheelchair bound sales people. In 25 years we only knew of one. Since many stores are small independent they do not fall under the government disability protections so….Home Dept, 12 hours a week it is. Odd for a man who had customers who flew in from the Middle East twice a year to buy for their harems. LOL! But..he is handling well.
Anyway..that wasn’t the point. The point was, he got home from work last night about 9 p.m. and said “coffee?”
I was in the middle of an article on Tocari settings, quite frustrated with the angle I was using, and I was like…”I am so outta here”
We walked into our Starbucks which- still- has-not -closed- because- it- was- merely- a-marketing- ploy- and -I told -you- so and the barista said, “Pumpkin? Isn’t that what you guys drink in the fall?”
PUMPKIN? Pumpkin Lattes are back!
She whipped up a couple of venti pumpkin lattes with whipped cream towering on top..I mean towering…It was 6 inches above the rim of the cup…they know me so well.
Bliss. Sigh. Happy.
Yes. I would so rather have an indy coffee shop in my area. I would rather support small business. But small coffee shops can not MAKE it in my area…they close (how well I know) and so as long as there is a Starbucks where the baristas know what I like…and Marc and I can chat for 45 minutes without refereeing anything…well…I am happy.
And gave me enough of a caffeine boost to come back, finish the article, and write another one before slipping into bed at 3:30 a.m.
If you want to make one at home I posted the recipe last November. Pumpkin Spice Latte

Woot! Woot! Pumpkin Spice Lattes are my FAVORITE from SB!! I look forward to them all year and I am sad when they go. Also, their Christmas blend coffee is the greatest!
You live in Indy? I didn’t know that (I think)? Where do you live? I live on the Southside of Indianapolis. You can email me if you like.

I went back and reread and I thought you said “Indy”, but now I see you meant independent. LOL!

I’m so jealous. I’m kind of over Da Bux for the most part. A long-lived love affair is winding down. BUT I will go get a few PSL this Fall. And Gingerbread White Mochas. Because they do those two drinks better than anyone. Sadly, since I live in the middle of nowhere, I can’t get a PSL for another two weeks, when we hit the road! But in two weeks, my dear luscious Pumpkiny coffee goodness, you will be mine. If even for a moment.

Would you believe that I not only have never enjoyed a pumpkin latte I’ve never had anything from Starbucks. Yes, there is one in our extended community. Perhaps I must give this one a try. Just once. Just to say that I have.

I have made my own, with a recipe that’s pretty similar to yours. It was really good, but not the same :-) I do use pumpkin creamer though, and love that stuff…

I’m trying to remember if I like Pumpkin Spice lattes. I must have had one at some point, though I rarely go to Starbucks now.
Are they sweet? I can’t stand sweet coffee. Ick.

Not too sweet. The nitmeg=pumpkin comes through more than sweet..
But keep in mind that I love sweet things…and I was excited about a 6 inch dollop of whipped cream on top… My opinion might be biased.
