Bolivia Caranavi: Just Wow.

by Marye on February 25th, 2008

Bolivia Caranavi

I don’t know if you have a Target store near you, or not. I don’t know if they are all over the U.S. or not. I will tell you that I stopped shopping at Walmart about 3 years ago because of ethical issues, and issues I had with their foreign policy and about that time I discovered Target.

Over the years I have watched this store increase the quality of their merchandise, I have seen them bring in more and more organic and Fair Trade items. I have read their foreign policy and been impressed. I have used their store brand and been….impressed.

Their brand is called Archer Farms. The ad company needs to have a bonus because the feel of the merchandise, the way that it is packaged and presented, is sort of upscale country.

Anyway. SO the other day I decided to try one of their special coffees. Bolivia Caranavi. It said it was slightly robust and slightly sweet. O.k.

Brought it home. Handed it to Marc and said, “coffee please.”
Then I left the room to check my email. In a few moments the smell of something delicious was wafting through the house like in the old Looney Toones cartoons, beckoning me into the kitchen. I was powerless to stop myself.

Once there I waited impatiently for the coffee to finish brewing. I had decided to take the first cup black and really taste it.

Bold. Aromatic. Sparkling and clean…but..what was the aftertaste? Wine…almost….

FIGS!

Yep. This coffee is rich and complex. Taste it and you will understand what they mean by “tastes of wine”.

I have since looked the coffee up (I try not to read other people’s reviews until I have tasted) and read things like chocolate, caramel, etc. Maybe, and maybe not but I am telling you this had a fig aftertaste. It was delicious.

Then I added heavy cream and stevia. The flavor held up to it, in fact it only made it better. I could literally drink this coffee black, or creamy. It is just that good.

If you don’t have a Target nearby, Amazon carries that coffee, although not Archer Farms Brand. …and I am sure there are other places to get it.

Definitely put it on your list of things to try!

We’ve started going to Target more, luckily there is one close by. It’s only a few blocks further than WalMart. In fact, we cut through the WalMart lot to get to it.

Thanks for the heads up on the coffee, sounds delicious.

I love LOVE love Target. Unfortunately it is about an hour away, and Wally World is a mere 30 minutes. But I get to go tomorrow!! I’ll check their coffee selection out!

all 4 of the archer farms canned coffees are excellent.
    bolivia caranavi
    ethiopian yirgacheffe (best)
    costa rican estate la violeta
    el salvador miraflores

they usually run 7.99-8.99 a tin. well worth it.
even the normal coffees from archer farms are great, kenya aa is awesome.
also try Peets coffee, i found it at publix. Major Dickasons Blend, that with a bit of AA kenya and WOW!
oh yeah always buy WHOLE bEANS, never ground, it loses its potency after 30 seconds just like espresso. grind it yourself. CHECK THE DATE!!!!!!!!!
