10 Reasons I Keep Going Back to Starbucks
When I want to drink really good coffee I stay home. When I want to have some time to myself, or be able to talk to Marc without an interruption I go to Starbucks.
We go every Monday for coffee. We have done for a long time. I don’t know how long really, I think we only had 5 or 6 kids when we started. Coffee is great because it doesn’t cost THAT much as dates go, I don’t have to get dressed up and neither does he, and we have developed an easy friendship with the Baristas at our “Most Favored Starbucks”. Even to the point that when they built one closer we did not go to that one, not even once. Nope, we go to the one that we always have gone to.
I was thinking about why. What makes us go back? Well, if you have a coffee shop, listen up. Because, seriously, it is not the coffee.
1. When we walk in the barista is all ready getting 2 ceramic venti mugs out of the cupboard and heating them up. They know that I do not touch Styrofoam or paper (I have a weird touch sensitivity) and they just know to do this.
2. They always greet us and joke with us.
3.They know that this is our once a week date and for us it is special. They do not interrupt us or chat with us unless we seem to invite them to. Well except the one clueless guy. Geez. He used to pull up a chair and sit down..
4. Once in awhile they give us our coffee for free.
5. They always say good bye, wish us a great day, and ask when we will be back.
6. When Marc was in hospital last summer and I went in to gather my thoughts they asked where Marc was. When I told them that he was in hospital the reactions were varied. One person prayed with me. I know this is not PC but I really appreciated it. Once person hugged me. One person said they would be thinking of us. I feel cared about there.
7. It is clean.
8. Did I mention that the baristas joke around and keep things light.
9. Did I mention that they talk to the customers rather than just amongst themselves?
10. When they come up with a new product or flavor they get excited about it and ask me to try it. When Starbucks stopped making maple macchiatos I was bummed. The barista said that he would make me something I would love..and he did. No clue what it was but it was really good.
That’s it. How easy am I? Give me a little attention and I will drive out of my way to drink coffee I don’t really like, and pay too much for it. What a deal!
